About Campus Rauland Student Housing:

Campus Rauland Student housing is located right next to USN Campus Rauland. The two buildings are built in solid wood, connected to a geowell for heating and with solar cells on the roofs. The buildings have been named Bjørk and Furu, after a naming competition among the students at Rauland.

In December 2023, "Stubben" opened - a brand new social student house, next door to the student housing.

The buildings include:

A total of 42 student housing divided into two housing types and over two buildings:

Practical information about Campus Rauland Student housing:

There are four charging points with a payment solution in the parking lot shared with the university.

When the Stubben student house is completed and the outdoor space is finished, four more charging stations will be established, making a total of eight electric car chargers in the parking lot shared with USN. Information about how charging works can be found on the charging post. When you connect, you will see the current price.

There are no common rooms inside the student housing buildings, but the student house "Stubben" opened in December 23 and is located right next to the housing. The student house can be used by all residents.

Read more about the student house, access and house rules.

There is no lift in the buildings. The HC-adapted units are located on the ground floor.

Campus Rauland Student housing is located in scenic surroundings, and as the closest neighbor to the school. Read more about location and access to Campus Rauland at USN.

The outdoor area will be completed in spring/summer 2024. The driveway will be paved, some planting is planned and otherwise there will be as much natural space as possible around the buildings.

There are some free parking spaces outside the student accommodation.

Non-students who wish to rent an apartment in Rauland for a week (for example to ski in the winter) can submit a rental application via My page. The rental price for a week is NOK 6000,- (final cleaning is not included, the tenant does the cleaning). If there is something available during the desired period, we will contact you to make further arrangements before sending a contract.

There is a communal laundry (with regular washing machines and tumble dryers) on the ground floor of Furu, which all residents can use - for FREE.

There is a large shared storage room on the ground floor in Bjørk. A swap shelf is available here as well.

The entrance to the shed is on the long side (right side towards the main road/right around the corner for the stairs to the first floor).

A swap shelf has been established inside the shared storage room on the ground floor of Bjørk. Here you can leave things you no longer need, or find things you need for your dorm. It is not allowed to leave furniture or textiles.

Read more about the swap shelf concept.

Separate waste room for all residents. Remember to sort your garbage!

Geo well and solar cells

Electricity is included in the rent.

Energy from geowells and solar cells provides heating for radiators, underfloor heating, ventilation and hot water.

Think of the environment - help us saving energy!

The student housing is built to be energy-efficient to retain heat during the cold season. There is no cooling installed on the property and in the summer months it can get hot inside if it is hot outside.

Read more: How to cool down your dorm in the summer!

Solar cells

Solar cells have been installed on one or more of the roofs of the student accommodation.

Fire alarm system

It is very important for your safety and the safety of others that you have familiarised yourself with the fire alarm system in your student residence. You can find information about the fire alarm system that applies to you on My page under Fire information. We would like you to read this and tick off that the information has been read and understood.

There are also notices in the student accommodation that provide you with information.

Cable in router

Internet via cable

A router from SSN has been placed in your apartment. To use a wired connection, you must connect the device you wish to use through this.

We recommend that you use network cables of the standard cat5e or newer.

Priv-ssid: Private wireless network

Private WiFi

SSID and password for your personal wireless network can be found under the internet tab on My page.

SSN external

This wireless network is reserved for tenants who do not have an account to use eduroam. If you are not a student or employee at USN you will find the password under the Internet tab on my page.

WiFi: Eduroam

This is the same wireless network that you will find on campus (in addition to a number of other locations). To log in to eduroam, you must use your student account ([email protected] + password). You obtain your student account from the university at the start of studies. More information about student accounts can be found on the USN website.

Eduroam uses wpa-enterprise for authentication. This means you need both a username and password to log in. Many devices such as smart TV, Chromecast, Apple TV and gaming consoles do not support this and therefore cannot be used on Eduroam.

WiFi public areas

These wireless networks are also available in public areas (kitchen/lounge/hallway).

Key card and unlocking of doors from app/My page

Lock yourself in with your mobile phone

You can easily lock in via "My key card" on My page on mobile phone/desktop or via the Student Sørøst app (My key card is found under the service for Student housing). My key card gives you the opportunity to unlock all doors you have access to through your tenancy with SSN. It is also this function that you can use to lock in guests.

NB! We recommend that you always take your key card with you when you leave the dormitory. Opening from the web will not work if you lack internet or My page is down.

Tip - buy an extra key card at SSN's service office! There are snap locks on the doors and it is easy to lock out. An extra key card can be kept with a fellow student.

Key card:

You will receive one key card (free of charge) when you move into your student housing unit. This is how it works:
Outer door:
Hold the card close to the card reader. It should flash green in the reader. Enter your four-digit code. The door is unlocked.

Interior doors:

Hold the card close to the reader unit. Press down on the handle and open the door when you get a green light and a single beep. The door locks automatically when it is closed, but can always be opened from the inside with the door turner.

NB! Do not make holes in or write on the key card - it may stop working.

Error message in the card reader on the dormitory/apartment door:

Green and red light flashing alternately: low battery voltage, the batteries must be replaced immediately. If the battery voltage is low, it can also happen that red and green flash at the same time. Report on Errors and deficiencies on My page if you need a battery replacement.

When you move out, you return the key card, feel free to use one of our drop boxes. ATTENTION! A fee is triggered if you don´t return your key card. See the price list.

Subject to errors in inventory. In addition, some inventory may apply to common areas and not the individual unit.
