Klokkergården is located in Borre, only a short bike ride from Bakkenteigen (Campus Vestfold). At Klokkergården you live in a mini-village of small houses, with a short distance to both a swim in the sea and the grocery store!

About the buildings:

The summer of 2021 marks the start of the first stage of the rebuilding of Klokkergården. The main goal of the renovation is to utilize the areas so that all units eventually have private bathrooms and kitchens.

The renovation also involves new social spaces for the residents, in the form of a beautiful communal house in the building "Skomakeren", as well as a "swap"-room and billiards / table tennis room.

Klokkergården consists of 21 buildings, all with old local names from areas / farms in Borre. When the renovation is completed on 1 July 2022, there will be 161 housing units at Klokkergården. These are divided into 8 family apartments, 6 couple apartments and 147 single units with private bathroom and kitchen.

Live with your friends at Blekket in Klokkergården:

At Klokkergården you can move into a collective with your friends in the house called Blekket (NB: everyone must be students)!

  • All friends must each submit their own housing application on My page.
  • Write in the free text field who you want to live with.
  • If you want to move into a group of friends, you should submit your housing application no later than May / June. Read more about the application here.

Living with friends is a new pilot project for SSN Housing.

At Klokkergården, there is plenty of cozy spaces for the residents to meet:

  • "Skomakeren" - newly renovated (in 2022) and nice common room (a whole house!) free to use for all residents. The house has a kitchenette with fridge / freezer, oven and dishwasher, a large family room with plenty of seating and two large screens, as well as a cozy loft with sofa. There are separate toilets in the house.

    "Skomakeren" is booked through the welfare host at Klokkergården.

  • "Hangout" - a separate room with billiards and table tennis (under renovation during spring of 2022). The room is located on the ground floor of "Stallen".
  • "Gratis-bua" - a separate "swap"/exchange room for the residents of Klokkergården. Here you can leave things you no longer need, or find things you need for your dorm. The room is being established in the spring of 2022, is connected to the "Hangout-room" in Stallen and will be ready before the summer of 2022.

All single units at Klokkergården have electricity included in the rent. Some of the couple and family apartments receive a fixed supplement to the rent for electricity. This means that you get predictable living expenses and do not have to deal with a subscription for electricity and an electricity bill.

The buildings that were built after 2006 are connected to local heating systems that contribute to heating of radiators and hot water. The rest of the buildings have electricity as an energy source.

When the renovation of Klokkergården is completed on 1 June 2022, all units will have door locks with a key card (not a physical key).

You will receive a key card (free of charge) when you move into your student accommodation. Please do not write or make a hole in your key card, it might stop working.

Lock in via My key card

In addition you can easily unlock doors via "My key card" on My page, in the Student Sørøst app or in the web browser at your phone/laptop. Here you have the opportunity to unlock all the doors you have access to through your rental agreement with SSN. It is also this feature you can use to open the door when guests arrive.

We recommend that you always bring your key card when you leave your room. Opening the door digitally will not work if My page is down or you lack access to internet.

Remember to return your key card when moving out. There is an additional fee for non-submission.

A 10-minute walk to the beach and to Borre National Park, as well as walking distance to campus Vestfold (2 km). Immediate vicinity to grocery store (KIWI Borre).

Klokkergården is located in beautiful green areas with barbeque sites, and a small play ground.

There is free parking with the possibility of renting engine heaters. There is a separate, lockable stall for bicycles.

Laundry with washing machines and tumble driers are located on the bottom floor in the building Smia. You do not need to bring your own detergent, as the machines have a "dosing system" - that is, it automatically fills with detergent. The detergents are hypoallergenic.

With this solution everything is done with an app on your phone (you can also use a web site).

It is currently not possible to reserve machines with this solution, but you can use the app to see if there are any machines available. You will also receive a notification from your app when your laundry is finished.

Due to the renovation at Klokkergården, there is variation in whether each housing unit has its own storage room or not. The buildings that are being rebuilt in 2021/2022 will not have their own storage room, but have good storage space inside the individual single unit / apartment and bicycle parking under roof.

Residents in Grisehuset, Hønsehuset, Fjøset and Stabburet have their own internal and external storage room until the renovation starts. Residents in Kårstua, Stallen, Smia and Låven do not have their own storage room after the renovation. The remaining buildings have both internal and external storage rooms belonging to each housing unit.

There are underground waste igloos behind “Vaskekjelleren” and “Myra”. Remember to recycle!

A router from SSN has been placed in your apartment. To use a wired connection, you must connect the device you wish to use through this.

We recommend that you use network cables of the standard cat5e or newer.

A router from SSN (Dlink DIR-100) has been placed in your apartment. To use a wired connection, you must connect the device through this. Use one or more of the blue ports marked 1-4. The grey port marked "Internet" must be plugged into the wall outlet.

The router is fully configured by us and must not be reset/changed.

We recommend that you use network cables of the standard cat5e or newer.

No WiFi

SSN does not provide a wireless network in this building. If there is a need for WiFi, the tenant must set this up him or herself using a wireless router etc.

Own WiFi

SSID and password for your personal wireless network can be found under the internet tab on My page.

WiFi: Eduroam

This is the same wireless network that you will find on campus (in addition to a number of other locations). To log in to eduroam, you must use your student account ([email protected] + password). You obtain your student account from the university at the start of studies. More information about student accounts can be found on the USN website.


Eduroam uses wpa-enterprise for authentication. This means you need both a username and password to log in. Many devices such as smart TV, Chromecast, Apple TV and gaming consoles do not support this and therefore cannot be used on Eduroam.
