About the building:

Kaldnes Brygge Student Housing was ready to move in until the start of studies in the autumn of 2014. It is easy to live here, with everything you need in the immediate vicinity. There is a common outdoor area at the back of the building, with lots of nice seating.

Practical information about Kaldnes Brygge Student Housing:

Use your PC or mobile phone to let visitors in through the main entrance!

You can easily unlock doors via My key card on My page. Here you have the oppurtunity to unlock all the doors you have access to through your rental agreement with SSN. It is also this feature you can use to open the door when guests arrive.

You can also open the front door by calling 948 48 156, but only from a Norwegian phone. 

There is a newly renovated common room (2023) on the ground floor, which is available to all residents. Here there is a table with seating for about 14, as well as a sofa group, a large screen, two good chairs and a shelf with various board games. The room is at the very end of the hallway on the left. There is an exit to the back garden from the common room.

There is a lift in the building. 

The building is located on Kaldnes pier close to Tønsberg brygge (pier), popular nightclubs for students and Tønsberg centre. The nearest grocery store is located on the basement floor of the building and the bus stops right outside the student residence. Plenty of public transport to the University which is located about 15 km from Kaldnes.

Kaldnes Brygge student accommodation has nice outdoor areas. 

There is no allocated parking. The parking company OnePark operates the toll parking in the area. It is possible to rent a parking space directly from them. 

Bicycle parking is available in the basement.

Kaldnes Brygge student accommodation has a laundry with washing machines and tumble driers on the ground floor.

Do your laundry with appWash:

With this solution everything is done with an app on your phone (you can also use a web site).

It is currently not possible to reserve machines with this solution, but you can use the app to see if there are any machines available. You will also receive a notification from your app when your laundry is finished.

All residents have access to their own storage room in the basement. Must be locked with a private padlock. 

There are underground waste igloos by the main entrance. Remember to recycle!

District heating system

Electricity is included in the rent.

The building is attached to a district heating system that contributes to heating of water, ventilation heating and heating of radiators.

Think of the environment - save energy!

The student housing is built to be energy-efficient to retain heat during the cold season. There is no cooling installed on the property and in the summer months it can get hot inside if it is hot outside.

Internet via cable


A router from SSN has been placed in your apartment. To use a wired connection, you must connect the device you wish to use through this.

We recommend that you use network cables of the standard cat5e or newer.

Priv-ssid: Private wireless network

Private WiFi

SSID and password for your personal wireless network can be found under the internet tab on My page.

SSN external

This wireless network is reserved for tenants who do not have an account to use eduroam. If you are not a student or employee at USN you will find the password under the Internet tab on my page.

WiFi: Eduroam

This is the same wireless network that you will find on campus (in addition to a number of other locations). To log in to eduroam, you must use your student account ([email protected] + password). You obtain your student account from the university at the start of studies. More information about student accounts can be found on the USN website.


Eduroam uses wpa-enterprise for authentication. This means you need both a username and password to log in. Many devices such as smart TV, Chromecast, Apple TV and gaming consoles do not support this and therefore cannot be used on Eduroam.

WiFi public areas

These wireless networks are also available in public areas (kitchen/lounge/hallway).

My keycard: Digital key in app or on My page at ssn.no

You can lock yourself in both with a physical key card and digitally via My key card in the Student Sørøst app or on My page from ssn.no.

The key card function is activated from 1 pm on the day your contract starts. Remember that you MUST collect the physical key card in addition.

Subject to errors in inventory. In addition, some inventory may apply to common areas and not the individual unit.

All keys and key cards must be delivered by 10 am on the last day of the contract.

The housing unit must be ready for handover (emptied, cleared and cleaned).

You can either deliver the key in the service office or in one of our dropboxes.
