Checklist for what to clean when moving out

All residents must clean their own room/apartment when moving out. Here you can find a complete overview of what you need to do. Remember that a fee will be charged if you do not conduct your moving out cleaning in accordance with the checklist*.

Step by step:

  1. Follow the checklist below, clean well.
  2. Order check-out (approval of the cleaning job) well in advance and no later than 14 days before the date of your contract expires. Place your order on My page, under "My Contracts" and "Report errors/defects/book cleaning control", and we will contact you.
    Check-out will take place on a weekday between 09.00 am -2.00 pm and on the date you wish, but no later than the last day of the contract. If the last day is Saturday or Sunday, the check-out must be arranged no later than the Friday before.
    NB! Due to the high season, SSN cannot carry out this type of check for residents with a move-out date on 31 July. For these, the check-out will be done without the tenant present.
  3. Your cleaning job must be approved by the caretaker / cleaner / service coordinator at SSN. If the cleaning job is not approved, you have two choices; you can come back to clean again as your contract is still active, or you can pay us to do it. If your cleaning is not apporived after the end of your contract, a fee* must unfortunately be charged.
  4. If you do not wish to clean yourself, you can order cleaning from SSN. Order at [email protected]. The service costs 1700 NOK for single unit and 2800 NOK for appartment. This must be ordered well in advance and no later than three weeks before it is needed.
  5. Report "Errors" at your housing unit on My page before you move out.
  6. Deliver the key to your service office or dropbox. If you deliver the key in the dropbox, you must remember to send us an e-mail confirmation ([email protected]), stating that you have delivered your key.

We have made a checklist that you should follow carefully when you clean your housing unit. 

Room with shared kitchen 

  • Cabinets, shelves, furniture, window frames and all lights / lamps. 
  • Doors, frames and light switches. 
  • Pull out furniture to wash moldings (then put them back). 
  • Windows, inside and outside (where accessible without the use of a ladder / lift). 
  • Ceiling, walls (including picture shelf) and floor. 

Bathroom 

  • Ceiling, walls and floors. 
  • Cabinets and shelves, both on the outside and inside. 
  • Mirror and light fixture. 
  • Washbasin, both on the outside and inside. 
  • The toilet, as well as the pipes. 
  • Clean drains. 
  • Clean the shower thoroughly.
  • Door, frames and light switches. 

This also applies where two tenants share bathroom. 

Kitchen 

  • The entire kitchen interior (inside and outside). Including between cupboard and bench. 
  • Sink. 
  • Kitchen cabinets, dishwasher, refrigerator and freezer. 
  • Stove, including plates / grate and fan with filter. 
  • Pull out white goods and wash behind and on the sides (applies if the goods are freestanding).

Shared kitchen? 

  • If you share kitchen with seven or more others, clean your cabinet/drawer and fridge thoroughly, inside and outside. 
  • Where two people share a kitchen, clean your part of the kitchen (fixtures, refrigerator, fan, freezer, and stove) and common area. 

Apartment  

Kitchen, living room, bedroom and hallway 

  • The entire kitchen interior (inside and outside). Including between cupboard and bench. 
  • Sink. 
  • Kitchen cabinets, dishwasher, refrigerator and freezer. 
  • Stove, including plates / grate and fan with filter. 
  • Pull out white goods and wash behind and on the sides (applies if the goods are freestanding) 
  • Cabinets, shelves, furniture, window frames and all lighting / lamps. 
  • Doors, frames and light switches. 
  • Pull out furniture and wash moldings. 
  • Wash windows (inside and outside). 
  • Wash ceiling, walls (including picture shelf) and floors. 

Bathroom 

  • Ceiling, walls and floors. 
  • Cabinets and shelves, both on the outside and inside. 
  • Mirror and light fixture. 
  • Washbasin, both on the outside and inside. 
  • The toilet, as well as the pipes. 
  • Clean drains. 
  • Door, frames and light switches. 

Remember to report errors/defects at your housing unit on My page before moving out!

 

*Fee for insufficient cleaning is per 1 February 2021 as follows:

- For complete cleaning of an apartment: 2800 NOK
- For complete cleaning of dormitory with associated kitchen / bathroom: 1700 NOK
- For washing that is limited to a "last finish", and washing has not been reviewed and approved: 600 NOK
