An evening with film and local cheese in focus!
In the lush Jura valley in France, 18-year-old Totone lives life like other teenagers; hanging out with friends – partying, flirting, drinking and having fun. But when he suddenly has to take responsibility for his seven-year-old sister, life turns upside down. He has no plans for the future, but gets a job at a traditional Comté cheese dairy, where he must learn both the craft of cheesemaking and farm life. A new drive awakens - he decides to make a Comté cheese that is good enough to win the prestigious annual agricultural competition! With a tempting cash prize in sight, Totone must navigate both challenges in the dairy, a budding relationship with the young farmer Marie-Lise, and the expectations from the experienced farmers around him. With warmth and humor, "The Green Valley" depicts everyday life in the French countryside, combining charm and French rural culture with a touching story about personal development, responsibility, and traditions.
After the film screening, you will definitely want cheese! In the salon after the film screening, we will be visited by Wilma Zweerts, who works with goats and cheese production in Nome. Wilma will present her cheeses and has brought samples and cheese for sale. To mark that this is film salon number 100, there will also be an opportunity to buy wine. Cinema manager Anita will summarize the film salon's life so far – and reveal which of the 99 films shown is the audience favorite!
