Free testing for sexually transmitted diseases at USN

On Monday, April 27, between 10 AM and 12 PM, the youth health clinic will be on campus, and you can get tested for sexually transmitted infections for free. No age limit!

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) can be invisible – but the consequences are real. Fortunately, testing is easy, free, and something you can do to take care of both yourself and others.
Sexually transmitted infections such as chlamydia and gonorrhea are relatively common among young adults in Norway, especially among students and others who are sexually active.

When should you get tested?
You should get tested if:
- you have had unprotected sex with a new partner
- you experience symptoms, such as discharge, pain when urinating, sores, or rashes in the genital area
- a partner has been diagnosed with an STI
- you have frequent partner changes
- you belong to a risk group (for example, men who have sex with men)
Many professional organizations also recommend getting tested at least once a year if you are sexually active, and more often if you have multiple partners or other risky behaviors. You do not need to have symptoms – many carry infections without knowing it.

How is the test done?
Chlamydia and gonorrhea: Tested with a urine sample or a swab sample (from the vagina, throat, or rectum – depending on the type of sex you have had). You can do this in a toilet on campus that day and submit the sample immediately.
