The Middle Man // Filmscreening at Kroa

THE MIDDLE MAN is a darkly humorous satire set in the small American town of Karmack. After an epidemic of accidents and deaths, the town's "Commission" - consisting of the sheriff, the doctor, and the pastor - decides to hire a "middle man". Someone responsible for informing families and loved ones when an accident occurs.
Frank Farrelli (played by Pål Sverre Hagen) is a quiet, steady guy who turns out to be perfect for the job. He takes on his new duties with enthusiasm and quickly becomes the town's messenger of bad news. But the pressure of the job and a budding new romantic connection overwhelm Frank. To ease the burden, he calls in a 'service', but it all ends in murder and now Frank is stuck in a vicious cycle where he's not only the bearer of bad news but also the one creating it.
Partially based on a book by Lars Saabye Christensen and directed by Norway's foremost auteur director Bent Hamer, The Middle Man features several of our most talented Norwegian actors, as well as familiar faces from Sweden, Denmark, the USA, and Canada. We meet, among others, Pål Sverre Hagen, Tuva Novotny, Nicolas Bro, Nina Andresen Borud, Trond Fausa, Aksel Hennie, Paul Gross, Don McKellar, and Rossif Sutherland.
