Tuesday 14. Mar, 18:00 -
Kroa i Bø, Bø
Did you know that Midt-Telemark is a sanctuary for persecuted writers?
No? Well, Friby is an organization that offers asylum to writers and artists who are politically persecuted, so that they may continue their important work without fear of being jailed or attacked.
Join us for an inspirational evening where we explore and discuss what it means to be a Friby.
We’ve invited friby-writers Ela Fahmida og Ahmedur Tutul Chowdury from Bangladesh to speak about their experiences. They will be joined by Hilde Pedersen (Head of Culture in Midt-Telemark) and Hilde Eika Nesje (Chief Editor of Bø Blad) for a conversation about this arrangement and its importance. Come and hear their stories with us at Kroa in Bø!
It will be an entertaining evening with live music, art, inspiring personal stories and exciting conversation. We are very lucky to have Helge Sigurd play Hardingfele for us and some of the writer-students will perform some of their original works.
The doors open at 18:00 and the event lasts until 22:00. For an hour before and after the official program the venue is open for socialization, where you can meet and speak to the friby-writers and the other participants.
The event is completely free, we will be serving some light snacks and the bar will be open.
