Student housing and the coronavirus

Are you moving into or living in student accommodation? Then there are a few things to take into account with regard to the coronavirus.

In student accommodation there are a lot of people living close to each other. It is therefore VERY important that we all are vigilant and follow the infection control rules. Wash your hands and keep your distance!

Have you been abroad?

If you have visited countries labelled as red, you must quarantine upon your return. This map shows countries and areas labelled as red. You may move into your student accommodation even if you are in quarantine, but ask that you contact us at [email protected] or call us on phone number +47 31 00 90 00 so that we are aware of this.

Waiting quarantine

It is the authorities, not SSN, who determines who must go into waiting quarantine.

Detailed information on waiting quarantine is available at FHI (NIPH).

The authorities may advise a close contact’s household members to remain in waiting quarantine while the close contact awaits the test result. When the close contact’s test result is negative (not detected), the waiting quarantine can cease. As a resident in shared student accommodation, all of the residents in the shared accommodation are considered to be household members.

Picking up keys

If you are picking up keys for your student accommodation, remember to keep your distance and take the necessary precautions when visiting us.

See the service offices’ opening hours.

SSN’s service office at your campus may be closed due to tightened infection control measures. We will notify you to arrange when and where you can collect your key if the office is closed.

Find your service office.

If you are in quarantine and need to collect your key, you must contact us at [email protected] or call us on +47 31 00 90 00 to arrange for delivery.

We comply with the health authorities’ recommendations to limit social contact as far as possible outside households. Shared accommodation is considered to be a household, and this rule thus also applies to our shared accommodation. Do not invite guests for social gatherings in your bedsit/shared kitchen, and be sure to comply with the authorities’ restrictions.

Common rooms

All common rooms are currently closed.

SSN Eiendomsdrift continues to have a procedure for this and manages this well.

In case of infection in housing

In the event of infection cases in housing, we comply with the health authorities’ advice. It is important to remember that it is not we who take the decisions in these situations, but that our task is to maintain close contact with the chief municipal physician in the municipality and adhere to the advice and measures provided in each individual case.

Have you been infected?

If you have been infected, it is important that you notify us out of consideration to your neighbours. Notify us at [email protected].
