Environment and sustainability are important in SSN! Read about what we do in our eateries to ensure a sustainable offer.

Food waste will be reduced by 50% by 2030

Through an agreement with the authorities at the Ministry of Climate and the Environment, we commit ourselves to helping to reduce food waste in Norway by 50 percent by 2030.

In addition to this agreement, we do a lot to ensure sustainable dining:

  • We have replaced all the porcelain plates with glass (glass is easier to recycle).

  • We work to make students to provide themselves only with the food they are actually going to eat.

  • We use the whole vegetable, and leftovers are used for new dishes, which in turn leads to less food waste.

  • We offer vegetarian options in all our eateries.

  • We facilitate and encourage correct waste sorting.

  • We are serious about the environment and work actively and consciously with knowledge development to make sustainable choices.

At the start of the term, we distribute several thousand free thermo cups to the students. This is to reduce the number of disposable cups and thus the amount of waste.
